Toxic amblyopia

Definition: Toxic amblyopia is reduced visual acuity believed to be due to a toxic reaction in the optic nerve. It is caused by multiple toxic and nutritional factors and probably other unknown factors. It is often found in patients who use tobacco or alcohol products in excess.
