Cataracts are painless, but they can cause vision problems. Can cataracts be prevented?

Answer:

Cataracts cannot be prevented, but these lifestyle habits may slow their development.

  • Don't smoke.
  • Limit sun exposure.
  • Eat a diet rich in vitamins C and E.
  • Limit alcohol.
  • Avoid steroid medications, if possible.
  • Control diabetes.
