Subconjunctival Hemorrhage

Definition: Bleeding or blood from a broken blood vessel that lies underneath the conjunctiva, the transparent clear coating that covers the white part of the eye. The conjunctiva cannot directly absorb the blood so it is trapped. The body slowly breaks down the blood over a few days' time.
