Cone-Rod Dystrophy

Definition: An uncommon, progressive disease of the retina that causes deterioration of the cones and rods frequently leading to blindness.

Symptoms of cone-rod dystrophy (CRD) include loss of night vision and decreased sight. The condition is occasionally accompanied by abnormalities of the teeth.

There are no known treatments or cures for CRD, but deterioration of vision may be slowed by wearing sunglasses and avoiding bright light.
