Definition: A medical condition involving loss of vision due to damage to the optic nerve from insufficient blood supply. People are usually aware of vision loss after waking up. AION is one of the most common causes of damage to the optic nerve. The condition may be confused with low-tension glaucoma or even multiple sclerosis.
