Diabetics at Risk for Blindness

Many people diagnosed with diabetes fail to obtain a dilated eye exam every year. So, as part of November’s Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month, eye care professionals are urging those with diabetes to have an annual dilated eye exam. Many people lose their vision from diabetic eye disease. Having a simple eye examination could significantly reduce the risk of vision loss.

Diabetic retinopathy is an eye disorder that affects people with diabetes and is the leading cause of adult blindness in the United States.
